Location Celebration Ornamentation!

There’s a certain beauty to the You Are Here series of jewelry/accessories that is comparable to the STC Memento we saw in October last year. While the Memento celebrates time on a grand scale, the You Are Here really memorializes a location.

The You Are Here series of jewelry captures an overhead/map view of the location of your choosing and carves that into a gold/silver plated metal sheet and then turns it into a wearable of your choosing. The beauty of the You Are Here lies in the fact that it can be linked to any special moment. The city/neighborhood you were born in, the restaurant you went to on your first date, your current home, or a memory spot for a loved one. Once you choose the locality on the map, it gets converted into a stencil that is then laser-cut onto a metal plate. The plate is then formed into a ring, pendant, or a brooch.

The You Are Here ornaments and enriches a memory through space. Not only does it make for great personal expression, it’s also beautiful if worn in pairs! Or perhaps even a rather beautiful gift for a friend, colleague, or family member… because memories are made in the right places, with the right faces!

Sometimes our desire to record memories actually interferes with being present in the moment. We miss out on the very experiences we want to remember by constantly being in “document” mode! Designed with this in mind, the Nokia Twist offers a quick and easy way to capture the moments that matter.

Rather than film, edit, and filter through a phone (while all the good stuff is going on!), users can grab 15 second recordings to revisit later. With just a simple twist of the lens, video and audio begin recording while a visual timer lets users know how much time is left. Media is instantly saved and can be uploaded for reflecting and sharing with friends later!

One Wonderfully Wobbly Table

The “Table of Mindfulness” only works if YOU put the finishing touch on it! What do I mean, exactly? Well, it’s uneven 4th leg makes the design wobbly… that is, unless you wedge another object of your choosing to keep it supported.

It could be a favorite book, a childhood stuffed animal, or any other meaningful object. Whatever you choose, it will be visible through the round integrated window on the surface. Each table ends up being different than the next as well as a unique statement about the owner!

Your public, personal space

Here’s how technology has changed lives. The public seating design by Shoeb Khan indicates the change in behavior of people over the past 20 years. While most people would go to parks without phones on them, back in the day, they would sit at benches, interacting with one another. The advent of tech has changed that, with people now carrying smartphones everywhere and being more self involved, wanting their own private space even in a public area.

The public seating design allows for two people to sit one beside another but still gives them their personal space. Visitors can sit either facing outwards, using the bench behind them as a backrest, or sit facing inwards, giving them a table of sorts to keep their paraphernalia. The design comprises one single bench module mirrored in two. Made out of concrete, the seating is cost-effective and durable, but it has the ability to easily adapt itself to different materials. It could be made out of plastic, wood, or even sheet metal for use in indoor public spaces like libraries!

A projector that rises from the ashes

Not many products today take inspiration from something as abstract as a phoenix’s flame. But if they were to, they would look like this pocket projector concept for Canon! The projector design has a unique look to it, something that makes it look like an incredibly futuristic high-rise skyscraper. Maybe that’s what products need today, an aesthetic that looks larger than life, making people go wow!

The pocketable projector comes with a cap that snaps off to reveal the powerful lens underneath. Wouldn’t this be great for those office meetings? A projector that projects power, authority and has a futuristic appeal?
