Yes, Money Can Buy Happiness Despite the old saying, researchers have found that spending money can, in fact, increase your happiness — if it’s spent in a way that jibes with your personality. A study from Yale University and the University of Cambridge analyzed 76,000 bank transaction records to examine what people spent their money on — either material objects or experiences. The participants’ satisfaction with the products they purchased were then measured in relation to their personalities. Those whose spending was a “psychological fit” reported higher satisfaction.
