A 4-Part workshop with Ariele Foster that will guide your through deep strength and stability movements to establish long-term hip happiness
Hi John, My name is Ariele Foster, I’m a doctor of physical therapy and a yoga teacher of 20 years. I'm excited to announce Strong & Supple: Yoga for 3D Hip Stability, a hugely important 4-part workshop that I'll be leading with Yoga Journal. Join today and save 30% with code STABILITY. | This topic is so important for a few reasons: Hip openers are the most common request in yoga classes. Nearly everyone feels that their hips are tighter than they should be. However, it begs the question: Is the stretching we are doing for tight hips working? Yoga asana, including "simple" poses like sitting cross-legged, can demand a lot of our hips. How do we apply viveka (discernment) to know what poses we should and shouldn't do and when to modify? Some of what we do in yoga asana may cause more harm than good. We will learn and apply the evidence from movement science, as well as begin to understand the paradigm shifts that may be needed, in our own bodies and the yoga world at large. (Hint: We will be strengthening in all three dimensions.) I know this material intimately. Despite great focus on alignment in my own teaching and practice, six years ago I experienced a major hip injury, partially brought on by yoga asana practice. That experience challenged me to evolve my practice to emphasize deep strength and stability in my hips. Few yoga classes focus on strength and stability, but for the sustainability of our bodies, the yoga world needs this. In this program, I’ll share everything I’ve learned from this personal experience, intense ongoing interest, focused continuing education, and success treating many patients with hip pain. Please join me live (or on demand) starting Thursday, October 29 in Strong & Supple: Yoga for 3D Hip Stability, and use coupon code STABILITY to save 30%. | We will map out the pathway to strong and supple hips for life. See you soon! Ariele | |
