EDITOR’S NOTE

Happy Monday. Skimm HQ is off to observe Memorial Day and honor those who died serving their country, but we’re still here to keep you informed. So we’re bringing you three things to know to start your week before we turn it over to our commerce editors, who are sharing their picks from the best MDW sales. And I could really use those discounts, since apparently, "daylight spending time" is real. While shopping, I'll be on the lookout for ways to replicate Nicola Coughlan’s impeccable "Bridgerton" press style, as well as something to make me look like the "coastal French girl" I was destined to be in another life. I’m also in the market for new hair products since I just saw that the millennial side part is officially back. Time to dust off my skinny jeans...

Three things to know
  • On Sunday, an Israeli airstrike hit a tent camp for displaced Palestinians in Rafah and killed at least 35 people, according to the Gaza Health Ministry. Israel's military confirmed it carried out a strike in the area, saying it targeted a Hamas compound and killed two senior Hamas officials. The IDF also said the "incident is under review." The strike came hours after Hamas fired rockets into Israel, several of which were intercepted.

  • Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton (R) is now a top contender to be former President Donald Trump’s running mate, according to The New York Times. Trump is poised to formally announce his choice closer to the Republican National Convention in July.

  • Over the weekend, Nicki Minaj was arrested in the Netherlands on suspicion of having "soft drugs" in her luggage when she was leaving the country. She was later fined and released from custody, per Dutch authorities.

can this red light mask fix my life by tomorrow
higherdose red light therapy face mask

HigherDose Red Light Face Mask

First, we had 12-step skincare routines. Now, we’re water cleansing in the morning. It’s hard to know what’s right for your skin when it seems like there’s a new fad every day. So do you really need a red light face mask? We say yes. Dermatologists and estheticians have been using red light therapy years before these devices were available to use at home, since it stimulates collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid production — everything the skin needs to keep it bouncy and strong. We put this HigherDose Red Light Face Mask to the test last year and found it actually healed our skin after a particularly bad breakout. So it’s more than just a fun selfie to take. If used consistently, it has the power to rejuvenate your skin in ways that applying a serum to the surface just won’t. You can grab the red light face mask for 20% off right now with code MDW2024. Invest in yourself.

what's the sunscreen we like again
eltamd uv clear broad spectrum spf 46

EltaMD UV Clear Broad-Spectrum SPF 46

Much like sticking to a budget and tracking down a good tailor, wearing sunscreen every day, regardless of what the sun is doing, is just part of being an adult. For those who haven’t yet found their holy grail SPF, we always recommend this EltaMD sunscreen to start (by the way, your derm would probably rec this, too). It magically works on all skin types, since it’s oil-free, fragrance-free, and contains hyaluronic acid for hydration without that heavy feeling. It also comes in a tinted version if you want to wear this in lieu of a tinted moisturizer. It’s 20% off today (with code SUN at checkout), which’ll help with the budgeting part.
