Hello,

I wanted to share this wonderfully helpful article by Jon Healey of the LA Times talking about privacy and mental health apps. Mr Healey cites our *Privacy Not Included buyer’s guide research but also goes deeper into the topic in a way I think you might find useful and interesting.

“Researchers have been pointing out problems in health data privacy for years. One reason is that the data has value, even when the user’s name is not attached to it; advertisers can still use anonymized information to send targeted ads to people based on their health concerns and afflictions.”

It’s really nice to see our work cited by reporters like Mr. Healey. And to see the important conversation about privacy and mental health apps continue in a way that drives change. Apps like Calm, Woebot, Youper, and Moodfit all have improved their privacy and security over the past year because we reached out and worked with them to do that.

Our job is to make privacy better for consumers, and it’s always great to see that happen. If you’d like to support us to keep doing this work, well, we certainly would appreciate a small donation today. In fact, we rely on those small donations to help keep this work going.

Support our work

Thank you so much!

Jen Caltrider
