Court dog Nova helps ease victims' trauma
Temperatures in northern Minnesota will drop into the 40s early Thursday morning behind a cold front. A few of the colder nooks and crannies — like the town of Embarrass — could dip into the upper 30s. Get the latest weather news on Updraft. 🎙️Coming up on Morning Edition: Al Quie will be remembered this weekend as a former governor, member of congress and — above all — as a statesman. But for one family, his legacy is more personal. Quie was a church committeeman and a southern Minnesota dairy farmer when he reached out to a stranger a lifetime ago — and formed an unexpected family bond. Tim Nelson brings us the story. 🎧 Coming up at 9 a.m.: MPR News host Angela Davis talks with a pediatrician and an adolescent addiction psychiatrist about having “the cannabis talk” with the young people in our lives. And we want to hear from you, too. Have you talked to your kids about marijuana? What did you say? How did it go? What questions do you have about how cannabis affects children, teens and young adults? Call 651-227-6000 or 800-242-2828 during the 9 a.m. hour.

Since the trial, Nova has been getting a lot of media attention for her calming presence and skill at providing reassuring support to victims.
