| | Rollout of all-terrain trackchairs broadens access to state parks
| If you use a wheelchair it can be a challenge to get out into the woods. But that is changing. The Minnesota DNR introduced five all-terrain trackchairs in some state parks last summer. Now 13 state parks offer the caterpillar-tracked chairs. About eight percent of Minnesota adults have a mobile disability, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Without the proper infrastructure, many are unable to have access to the state parks, let alone the trails. | |

Hunters can expect expanded testing for chronic wasting disease and restrictions on the movement of killed deer, all aimed at limiting the spread of the disease that is always fatal in deer. Duluth-based Minnesota Power is asking state regulators to approve a 12 percent increase in the electric rates it charges customers.
