Coming up on Morning Edition: The Minneapolis City Council will vote later this week on a $1.8 billion budget for 2024. Council members spent two days last week amending the mayor’s proposed budget, shifting more than $30 million in funding, with a focus on public safety. Reporter Jon Collins has been covering the process and brings us the story. | What else we're watching: | Washington County deputy receives award for saving driver from fire. A Washington County deputy received an award from the Minnesota Sheriff’s Association for pulling a semi-truck driver out of a fire from a crash on Interstate 94 in Afton. Man dies in landslide at Minnesota state park. A 19-year-old man became trapped and died as a result of a landslide. The Blue Earth County Sheriff's Office received a call Saturday afternoon of a landslide trapping someone under collapsed earth at the falls area of Minneopa State Park, near Mankato. 2 killed, 1 injured in early morning shooting in Minneapolis. Two men were shot and killed early Sunday morning in the Dinkytown neighborhood of Minneapolis. The shootings occurred at about 2:15 a.m. in the 400 block of 14th Avenue Southeast. Both men were in their 20s. 'Pick it up': New Minnesota law aims to curb litter left on ice. Garbage left behind on frozen lakes is one of the biggest complaints conservation officers hear every year. The law, which took effect July 1, requires all trash to be placed in a container that's secured to an ice house or vehicle. The Pentagon says U.S. warship, commercial ships attacked in Red Sea. The Pentagon says an American warship and multiple commercial ships came under attack in the Red Sea.
