Boys volleyball gets MSHSL approval to become a sanctioned sport in Minnesota

Minnesota has just become the 25th state to sanction boys volleyball as a high school sport. Teams from 72 Minnesota high schools — including nearly 2,000 athletes — are participating in this spring’s season.

Minnesota lawmakers approve $1 billion for housing

Off to Gov. Walz's desk, the proposal includes rental assistance funds, first-generation homebuyer aid, homelessness prevention efforts and upping metro tax for affordable housing.

🏛 Winona State president named chancellor of Minnesota State system

Scott Olson told the board that he hopes he can help break down barriers for those who want to go to school in the Minnesota State system, whether that’s affordability or feeling like they belong and are treated equitably.

🧑‍⚖️ Jury finds Trump liable for sexual abuse, awards accuser $5M

The verdict was split: Jurors rejected advice columnist E. Jean Carroll’s claim that she was raped, finding Trump responsible for a less serious form of sexual assault. But the judgment adds to Trump's legal woes and offers vindication to Carroll, whose allegations had been mocked and dismissed by Trump for years.

💜 ‘A gift to Minnesotans:’ Prince’s home state names part of highway after him

The highway starts in Eden Prairie and goes past Paisley Park not far from the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, the inspiration for the final track of Prince’s 25th album.

🚓 Minnesota lawmakers seek to sharply limit no-knock warrants

The proposal would set a higher standard for courts before a no-knock warrant is issued. There would also have to be a showing that the search couldn’t happen when the premises is unoccupied. Officers would also need to “loudly and understandably” announce their presence before moving in.

🏈 Former Vikings, Cal QB Joe Kapp dies at age 85

After a stellar collegiate career at Cal in the 1950s that was capped by an appearance in the 1959 Rose Bowl, Kapp went on to star in Canada before making it to the NFL. He's the only quarterback to lead his team to a Rose Bowl, Grey Cup and Super Bowl.
