Time for the t-storms. Several storm clusters should show up in southwest Minnesota tonight, headed toward central areas and the greater Twin Cities after midnight. The latest is on Updraft.

Red flag, expanded gun background checks added to larger public safety bill
Minnesota lawmakers are set to move ahead with a pair of new bills clamping down on gun control. They would expand background checks for gun transfers between private parties, and allow law enforcement to temporarily take guns from at-risk people.

Higher education budget bill with tuition break headed to Walz
A Minnesota bill to provide public higher education — without tuition cost for families with annual incomes under $80,000 — is headed to Gov. Tim Walz. The bill would also freeze tuition for two years in the Minnesota state system, and aims to hold down tuition increases at the U. The free tuition would cover about 15,000 students. Some opponents say spread out money could help many more families.

🚽 'Big, bold idea': Duluth hopes to heat homes with wastewater energy
Federal funds will help Duluth design a system to use leftover energy from a wastewater treatment plant to heat hundreds of buildings in the burgeoning Lincoln Park neighborhood. One advocate says it could become a national model.
⚾ Padres top Twins 6-1 with spark from 3-error 7th inning
Welp... The Padres used three Minnesota errors and savvy baserunning by Ha-Seong Kim and Fernando Tatis Jr. to score twice in the seventh inning on Tuesday, before Manny Machado broke the game open with a three-run homer in the ninth to beat the Twins 6-1 and give Michael Wacha his first win in five starts.
⚖️ Former MPD officer admits using unnecessary force in 2020 beating of man in custody
Video shows fmr. officer Justin Stetson striking Jaleel Stallings in the head as Stallings was lying on his stomach. Under the agreement, he'll be barred for life from working in law enforcement.
