Happy Monday!

After an active couple of weeks this week will be quieter. Prep for light snow in northern Minnesota late tonight into early Tuesday. A snow system on Thanksgiving stays mainly south. Temperatures will be warming to above normal this week. Get the latest on Updraft.

Promoting Hmong culture: Fashion and music at the Armory
At the Amory in Minneapolis, Hmong Culture was on full display on Saturday night. Hmong Nouveau, a fashion and lifestyle organization, hosted its 2022 fashion show and concert showcasing Hmong talent and culture from artists both locally and internationally.

'The woman of the century': Nellie Stone Johnson honored with Minnesota Capitol statue
Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz on Monday, along with labor and community leaders unveiled a statue depicting labor and civil rights activist Nellie Stone Johnson at the state Capitol. It marks the first time that an actual woman, and a Black Minnesotan, is set to be memorialized in a statue there.

🎪 Minnesota State Fair General Manager Jerry Hammer is retiring after 50 plus years
Hammer grew up in St. Paul near the fair and started worked in the fair greenhouse in 1970 as a teenager. He joined the full-time staff in 1977 and worked his way up through the fair's management ranks. He also served as chairman of the International Association of Fairs and Expositions.
🔵 Omar responds to McCarthy claim he'll strip her from committees
U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar responded to a promise from House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy to strip her of committee assignments if he's elected speaker in January, saying it contributes to the rise in hateful discourse in politics without solving any issues.
⚽ FIFA World Cup: The U.S. and Wales tie 1-1 in a crucial opening match
The outcome was a disappointment to many after the U.S. showed flashes of greatness in a dominant first half. It complicates U.S. hopes of emerging from the group stage.
