Classic 100 in Concert announced, spotlight on Audra McDonald, pride playlist and more.
| Surrounding International Woman's Day, we are celebrating great music by women across ABC Classic and ABC Jazz. From 3–7 March hear music exclusively by female composers, from the transcendent sounds of Hildegard von Bingen, through to the composers writing music today. Highlights include a focus on Clara Schumann and Fanny Mendelssohn in Mornings, and Australia's very-own Miriam Hyde on Legends, where Mairi Nicolson speaks with Hyde's daughter Christine Edwards. Hear Dr Lou Bennett AM and the Australian String Quartet perform especially for Drive Live with Vanessa Hughes. And on International Women's Day itself, live from Melbourne, we're bringing you Liza Lim's new cello concerto, performed by the renowned Nicholas Altstaedt. Vocalist Sarah Vaughan is in the spotlight for Jazz Legends during the Women of Jazz Fest. Hear music from and chosen by pianist Lauren Tsamouris and archive material featuring Judy Bailey, as well as ABC Jazz recordings featuring on the brand new Women of Jazz '25 album. | |
