Basilica Block Party returns to Minneapolis with new location and new weekend

The Basilica Block Party, which has been canceled the past two years, is coming back for an encore. It will no longer take place in July but in August — and will no longer take place at the Basilica of St. Mary, but instead Boom Island Park alongside the Mississippi in Minneapolis.

Oscar-nominated actress Lily Gladstone on 'kicking the door in' for Native performers

Gladstone, who already won a Golden Globe for her performance, has Blackfeet and Nez Perce heritage. Since she isn’t Osage, she said she relied on conversations with Osage citizens to gain their perspective. “There’s so much in the story that also just belongs to Osage.”

💰 Latest try to get remaining rebate checks cashed will carry clearer Minnesota labeling

Tossed your rebate check accidentally? The Minnesota Department of Revenue will try again next week to get the $260 per person payments to about 128,000 qualified recipients. Two earlier attempts wound up with voided checks because they weren’t cashed within 60-day windows.

🚨 Shooting after Chiefs Super Bowl parade seemed to stem from dispute among several people, police say

Police Chief Stacey Graves said that the 22 people injured in the shooting ranged between the ages of 8 and 47 years old, half of whom were under the age of 16. A mother of two was killed. Three people were detained — including two juveniles — but no charges have been filed yet.

🚜 EPA will allow farmers to spray dicamba after court blocks use

After a federal judge blocked use of the herbicide dicamba, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency said it will allow farmers to use existing stocks of the chemical this year.Farmers plant crops that are genetically modified to be resistant to dicamba, but it often drifts, damaging crops in neighboring fields and causing significant financial loss for farmers.

🚓 Moose Lake votes 3-2 to end police department, cut costs

The community of 2,600 people southwest of Duluth was down to a single police officer after two resigned over the summer and two others quit last month. A sharp increase in health insurance premiums means the city would have needed to spend 87 percent of its property tax revenue to maintain an independent force.

🛋️ IKEA opening new 'pop-up shopping experience' in Twin Cities

T-1 day until Roseville gets its very own IKEA, at least for a while. We don't know what products will be stocked at the pop-up store. But the retailer said the space will showcase “beautifully designed room settings,” with Ikea staff on hand to help customers plan rooms in their homes.

⚖️ Trump's New York hush money trial will start March 25

The judge in the hush money case against Donald Trump has rejected the former president's attempt to dismiss the charges, and a jury trial will begin as originally scheduled on March 25. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg brought forth a 34-count felony indictment against Trump last year, alleging he falsified New York business records in order to conceal damaging information before the 2016 presidential election.
