| We're in a climate emergency From large-scale forest fires to extreme weather events, rising global temperatures to record-breaking ice sheet loss, this past year has underscored both the scale of the challenge we face and the inadequacy of the collective response so far in dealing with the climate crisis. We are far from a trajectory that would hold warming to below 1.5°C – the point at which, scientists say, the impacts of climate change become devastating. Rather, we are on course for an average temperature increase of more than 3˚C – an undoubtedly catastrophic prospect for people and nature.
