View email online | | | | | Jan 18, 2021 | | | | | | Good afternoon, It's not what we wanted to hear on a Monday but it has become clear that there has been a week-on-week surge in Covid cases in the Preston, Chorley and South Ribble areas. This is the highest increase so far, with Preston the second highest surge in the country. It's a worrying time yet comes alongside hope with last night's confirmation those aged 70 plus and the clinically vulnerable will now be offered vaccines. Meanwhile, thousands of eligible people within a 45-minute drive of Blackburn Cathedral will be invited to book a coronavirus vaccine from today. Understandably, police have been cracking down on those breaching lockdown rules over the weekend, with many fined for travelling unnecessarily including two Preston students who travelled to Liverpool via Yorkshire.
