| | | | | | | Next on Your NSTA Calendar: Sharing Lesson Plans, Serving Science Students | Earth Day Network's Teach for the Future Contest seeks K–12 STEM and environmental educators to develop lesson plans for teaching climate change in the classroom. Ten educators with the best plans will be chosen to attend either of the two NSTA Area Conferences in Portland, Oregon, or Columbus, Ohio (deadline October 21). SaveOnEnergy.com is looking for the best lesson plans for teaching K–8 students about energy or sustainability. Six winners will receive $500 grants to be used toward classroom materials and activities (deadline October 21). And high school chemistry teachers can apply to serve as mentors to students competing in the U.S. National Chemistry Olympiad (USNCO). The American Chemical Society pays mentors an honorarium and covers most expenses associated with mentoring students at the USNCO study camp and attending the International Chemistry Olympiad (deadline December 2).
