MEDIA LOSER: Joe Rogan Joe Rogan might want to think twice about making bold election predictions. During a late October episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, the host confidently predicted the 2022 midterm elections would result in a red wave. “I think the red wave that’s coming, it'll be like the elevator doors opening up in The Shining,” Rogan said to writer Bridget Phetasy, referencing the scene where a river of blood rushes out of the hotel elevators. “That’s what I think. I think people are just like, ‘What the fuck are you saying?’ They’re making Republicans.” Rogan suggested when it comes to more divisive topics, “there are a lot of people that are afraid of talking about it. But they’re not afraid of voting about it." "Because there’s a lot of people that are afraid of the reprisal," he added. "They’re afraid of getting attacked and they’ll silently, when they’re amongst friends going, ‘What the fuck is going on? Like, what is going on?’ And those people — that’s gonna be responsible for the red wave," Well, the red wave never actually happened. Republicans are only poised to seize a narrow majority of seats in the House of Representatives, while the parties are currently neck and neck in the Senate race with Democrats seeming increasingly likely to retain their hold. Perhaps refrain from making such sweeping predictions, Rogan, as the elections were more like a pink trickle. |
