Bitcoin Is Empowering Marginalized Communities In Peru By Namcios What started as a one time effort with a $3,000 budget to buy shoes and socks for Peruvian children facing high mortality rates quickly grew into a full-scale effort focused on enabling financial empowerment through Bitcoin. MOTIV, a non-profit global empowerment group, got inspired after a visit to Bitcoin Beach, and is now leveraging Bitcoin to bring inclusion and hope to disadvantages communities through 15 hubs in Peru. The opportunity has turned into creating a bitcoin community similar to El Zonte, as the locals faced similar issues with being underbanked. With education programs, locals have been empowered to set up micro-businesses, develop skills, networking in selling their crafts and integrating bitcoin in their day-to-day shops such as markets. With Bitcoin, MOTIV is providing the people of Peru hope. |
